Rashi, nakshatra, sun sign?

Western horoscopes go by the Sun. Indian astrology starts from the Moon: the sign it was in when you were born is your rashi, and the star it was beside is your nakshatra, one of 27.

Mithu uses the sidereal zodiac with the Lahiri ayanamsa, like most Indian panchangs. It sits about 24° behind the Western zodiac, so Vedic signs often differ from what Western apps show. The Moon changes sign every two and a half days, so a birth time helps on the days it moves.
